A decade after last lifting the trophy, Bursary House (white) reclaimed its place at the top of the podium at the 35th Annual Inter-House Athletics Competition of the International School, University of Lagos (ISL), dethroning defending champions Chancellery House (yellow) in a thrilling one-day meet.
Bursary House dominated the medal table, amassing 11 gold, 11 silver, and 10 bronze medals, while Chancellery settled for second place with 8 gold, 7 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Despite matching Chancellery’s gold tally, Senate House (blue) finished third overall with 8 gold, 5 silver, and 5 bronze medals.

Other houses also made their mark: Congregation (purple) secured 5 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze medals; Registry (red) earned 5 gold, 2 silver, and 9 bronze medals; while School House (green) picked up 4 gold, 8 silver, and 9 bronze medals.
Delivering the keynote remarks, Mrs. Oluwaseun Yusuf, Chairperson of the occasion, emphasized that the event was about more than medals: “Sports teach us teamwork, discipline, resilience, leadership, and the spirit of fair play. These are qualities that will serve our children well beyond the sports field,” she said, commending the school management for sustaining a vibrant sporting culture.

Prof. Bolajoko Dixon-Ogbechi, Chairman of the ISL Management Board, highlighted the school’s broader commitment to sports excellence, noting that ISL athletes have consistently excelled in national and international competitions, with some alumni representing Nigeria on the global stage.
The large turnout of parents and guardians underscored the enthusiasm surrounding the event, reaffirming the role of sports as a cornerstone of student life at ISL.

For the Principal, Kolawole Amusan, the students’ performances were commendable, especially with the support of alumni who rewarded outstanding athletes with gifts and cash awards.
